November 12, 2025 | Cowboy Basketball
The top-ranked player in Oklahoma is staying home.
Â
Owasso High School standout Jalen Montonati made his Oklahoma State commitment official on Wednesday by signing a National Letter of Intent.
Â
The 6-foot-6 wing is a two-time Oklahoma Gatorade High School Player of the Year and a consensus four-star recruit, ranked as high as No. 44 in the Class of 2026 by ESPN. He's also made his mark on the international stage, helping the United States win gold at the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas.
Â
Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz said:
Â
"The first thing that stands out to you about Jalen is how competitive he is. He loves to win, and he's willing to put in the time and the effort to make it happen. He's a skilled, versatile player and he makes shots at a high level. He has a great understanding and feel for the game and knows how to work his way into spots where he can do the most damage. We're thrilled that he's decided to stay home and play for the Cowboys."
Â
Montonati enters his senior season with more than 1,500 career points. His Owasso Team -- coached by his father, former Cowboy Brian Montonati -- has reached each of the past three state tournaments.
Â
The younger Montonati was The Oklahoman's 2025 Super 5 Player of the Year as a junior after leading all of Class 6A in scoring (23.3 points per game). As a sophomore, he put up 23.6 points and led the school to its first-ever state championship.
Â
Montonati also shined on the Nike EYBL circuit with MoKan Elite, posting 15.8 points per game on 38 percent three-point shooting during the 2025 Peach Jam.
Â
In addition to Oklahoma State, Montonati took official visits to Oklahoma and Kansas State and drew offers from Arkansas, Alabama, Houston, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, USC and others.
