Lena Girardi Named Big 12 Freshman of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Lena Girardi was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week with the announcement of the Big 12 women's basketball weekly honors by the league office today.

Girardi helped the 20^th-ranked Cowgirls to a 4-0 start, averaging 15.5 points and 4.3 rebounds for the week.

The Purchase, New York native drilled four 3-pointers in her debut against New Orleans, finishing with 15 points and four boards. After scoring six points and grabbing six rebounds in OSU's win over East Texas A&M, Girardi erupted for 29 points in OSU's win over Langston.

Against the Lady Lions, Girardi drilled nine treys, setting the school's single-game mark for a freshman and finishing one shy of matching the school's overall record.

She finished the week with 12 points and three rebounds against Oral Roberts.

Girardi and the Cowgirls will be back in action on Tuesday at 11 a.m. when they host Prairie View A&M.
