STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Softball team beat USAO, 9-0, in a fall scrimmage Tuesday night at Cowgirl Stadium.
Ruby Meylan tossed two innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts and earned the victory in the circle for the Pokes.
The 10-inning scrimmage featured three situational innings where the team that scored the most runs in that inning was awarded a point. The remaining seven innings were played regularly.
OSU won two of the three situational innings to add two points to its total.
The Cowgirls were on the board first as they scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead that they would never lose. Amanda Hasler drove in two with a single up the middle, and Claire Timm added an RBI groundout.
The Pokes added runs in five of the remaining nine innings to secure the nine-run win.
Offensively, Kaya Booker and Gabby Castillo each notched multiple hits, with the latter going a perfect 3-for-3 on the day.
OSU's pitching staff was dominant on the mound throughout the entire contest. Madison Hoffman provided two shutout innings with three strikeouts, while Rylee Crandall and Preslee Downing both saw three innings with multiple strikeouts to complete the ten-inning shutout.
The Cowgirls continue their fall season on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. against Seminole State at Cowgirl Stadium.
