Game Flow
- Oklahoma State trailed 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, and Cincinnati outscored the Pokes 21-7 in the second quarter to take a 28-10 lead into halftime.Â
- The Cowboys scored a touchdown on their first drive out of the break and didn't allow a point in the third quarter to bring the contest within two possessions at the end of the third quarter. From there, Cincinnati scored 21 unanswered points to take the win, 49-17. Â
- Saturday's game was the fourth for Oklahoma State interim head coach Doug Meacham, who stepped into the role after OSU and 21-year head coach Mike Gundy parted ways on September 23.Â
- OSU quarterbacks coach Kevin Johns took over the playcalling duties for the first time this season on Saturday, and the Cowboy offense performed at its highest level of the season. A look at the numbers:Â
- Entering today's contest, the Cowboys were averaging 3.5 yards per rush, 5.7 yards per pass and 4.6 yards per play. Against the Bearcats, OSU averaged 4.8 yards per rush, 13.5 yards per pass and 5.6 yards per play.Â
- OSU eclipsed its season-high in rushing yards with 10:39 left in the third quarter, as it finished with 228 rushing yards in the contest. That's the most rushing yards for OSU since the Cowboys totaled 269 at BYU on October 18, 2024.Â
- Entering today's contest, Cincinnati was ranked 36th in the nation in rushing defense. OSU's 228 rushing yards are the most allowed by Cincinnati's defense this season, and the most since UC gave up 281 rushing yards against Kansas State on November 23, 2024.Â
- Oklahoma State held the Bearcats scoreless in the third quarter, which is just the fourth time this season Cincinnati hasn't scored in a quarter.Â
- Logan Ward drilled a 33-yard field goal with 4:10 left in the first quarter to cap off a 14-play, 69-yard drive that took 7:40 off the game clock. That's the second-most plays in a scoring drive for OSU this season.Â
- Rodney Fields Jr. ripped a 41-yard rush with 14:45 left in the second quarter to kickstart OSU's first touchdown of the evening. It was the longest rush of the season for the Pokes, and the longest rush of Fields' career.Â
- Fields finished the day with a career high in rushing yards (163), attempts (21), all-purpose yards (190) and matched his career-best in touchdowns. He surpassed his previous career high for rushing yards early in the third quarter.Â
- Fields totaled 110 rushing yards in the first half and became the first Cowboy with at least 100 yards rushing at halftime since Jaylen Warren had 150 at Boise State on September 18, 2021.Â
- Sam Jackson V, who made his second consecutive start at quarterback in today's contest, found the back of the endzone following a six-yard QB keeper with 11:12 remaining in the second quarter. The six-yard rush marked his first rushing touchdown since September 16, 2023, when he was at the University of California.Â
- Jackson connected with Shamar Rigby for a 48-yard gain midway through the second quarter, which is the longest reception of Rigby's career, and the longest completion for Jackson since a 62-yard completion on November 13, 2021, against Oklahoma State when he was at TCU.Â
- Quinton Stewart set up the Cowboys' second touchdown drive with a 30-yard reception early in the third quarter, which was the second reception of his career and first since 2022.Â
- Fields scored the Cowboys' second touchdown of the game on a 20-yard rush with 10:39 left in the third quarter. The score marked his first rushing touchdown of the season and second of his career.Â
- LB Ike Esonwu, CB LaDanian Fields, OL Jakobe Sanders, and LB Trip White all made their first collegiate starts.Â
- Oklahoma State's game captains were Austin Kawecki, Mordecai McDaniel, Quinton Stewart and Gunnar Wilson.Â
