Cowgirl Basketball Ranked No. 22 In AP Poll

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will start the season at No. 22 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, which was announced today.

The Cowgirls garnered 128 points, which were two shy of Iowa and 25 ahead of Michigan State.

Last year, head coach Jacie Hoyt's squad posted a 25-7 mark and reached the NCAA tourney for the second time in three seasons under her direction. The Cowgirls finished the year ranked No. 24 in last year's poll.

Earlier this month, the Cowgirls were also ranked 22^nd in ESPN.com's preseason poll. Additionally, OSU was picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Cowgirls return unanimous preseason All-Big 12 pick Stailee Heard, who earned honorable mention All-America status a year ago, as well as Micah Gray, an honorable mention all-league pick a year ago, and Big 12 All-Freshman Team pick Jadyn Wooten.

OSU will begin its season on Oct. 28 with an exhibition contest against Oklahoma Christian.
