Cowgirls Stifle Cincinnati in Road Win

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team defeated Cincinnati, 64-48, in Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday night.
The Cowgirls improved to 13-2 (3-1 in the Big 12) with the win, while the Bearcats fell to 9-5 (1-3).
The Cowgirls held Cincinnati to 25% shooting and 0-for-4 from beyond the arc in the opening period to take a 12-9 lead into the second.
Stailee Heard and Micah Gray buried back-to-back triples to spark a 6-0 run for the Cowgirls and extend the lead to nine in the second.
After an 8-0 run from Cincinnati, Oklahoma State held the Bearcats scoreless over the final two minutes of the half to take a 26-23 lead into the break.
At the half, the defense led the way for the Cowgirls, holding Cincinnati to 17% from three and forcing seven turnovers.
Out of the half, Macey Huard's three-pointer capped off a 9-0 run for the Cowgirls, and Heard added 10 third-quarter points as OSU took a 43-37 lead into the final period.
The Cowgirls stifled the Bearcats in the fourth defensively as Cincinnati was held scoreless over the final three minutes of play and went just 2-for-10 from the floor to close the game.
Heard drilled a fadeaway three-pointer to close an 8-0 run that would propel OSU to the finish line.
Heard picked up her sixth double-double of the year with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Oklahoma State's defense held Cincinnati to 30% shooting and outrebounded the Bearcats by 19.
The Cowgirls are back in action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, inside Gallagher-Iba Arena against No. 17 West Virginia.
