Cowboys Head To Pacific Northwest To Begin Fall Campaign

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will get its fall slate underway this weekend when it takes part in the Sahalee Players Championship at Sahalee Country Club.
The Cowboys enter the 2024-25 campaign ranked No. 17 by Golf Channel and No. 20 in the Bushnell/Golfweek DI Coaches Poll. OSU will be one of 13 teams in the field at the par-72, 7,003-yard venue, which counts the 2024 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, the 1998 PGA Championship and the 2010 U.S. Men's Senior Open among the events it has hosted.
The SPC originally began as an event to bring the best male amateur golfers in the world to Sahalee on an annual basis. The amateur event was contested on 26 occasions from 1992 through 2019 with a pair of former Cowboys taking the title. Trent Whitekiller won the event in 2008 and Peter Uihlein emerged victorious two years later.
Last year, the event transitioned into a collegiate team event. The Cowboys finished eighth in the team race, while Rayhan Thomas was the squad's top individual after tying for seventh place.
This year's lineup will consist of sophomore Preston Stout, who recently garnered preseason All-America status from Golf Channel, Ethan Fang and Eric Lee, both sophomore transfers from California, sophomore Johnnie Clark and freshman Filip Falhberg-Johnsson.
Junior John Wild will compete individually.
Clark and Stout were both in the lineup a year ago, tying for 14th and 56th, respectively.
The field will play 36 holes on Saturday with action set to get underway at 7 a.m. (PST) and will conclude on Sunday with the final round slated to begin at 8 a.m.
