Kajuru Advances at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – Ange Oby Kajuru of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team advanced to the Round of 16 of the singles main draw at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina, on Thursday.
Ranked fifth nationally, Kajuru, defeated No. 21 Annabelle Xu of Virginia in comeback fashion, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, to claim her spot in the third round.
Three other Cowgirls were in action on Thursday, as Gracie Epps and Marcela Lopez saw their doubles run come to an end in the Round of 16 at the hands of NC State's Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo, 6-2, 7-5.
Anastasiya Komar also competed on Thursday in the singles main draw consolation bracket, falling to No. 91 Melodie Collard, 6-0, 6-0. Komar and Kajuru were slated to compete in the doubles main draw consolation bracket, but they withdrew due to injury.
On Friday, Kajuru will compete for a spot in the singles quarterfinals and look to secure an automatic bid in November's NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas. She'll face No. 81 Catherine Aulia from Tennessee, with the match start time still to be determined.
