September 26, 2024 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman was named to the watch list for the eighth annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year, it was announced Thursday.
The award is the first college football honor to focus primarily on a player's leadership ability and recognize one's exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship. The watch list includes 52 total players and nine representatives from the Big 12 Conference.
Through four games of the 2024 season, Bowman has completed 91 of 145 passes for 1,173 yards and 10 touchdowns. Bowman's best performance thus far came on the road against Tulsa, throwing for nearly 400 yards and five touchdowns and earning him Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Off the field, Bowman has also gained notoriety for his strong work in the classroom, including a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team last season, and time spent serving the community. That time is highlighted by partnering with Access Scholarships to award a $1,000 "Sack the Stigma" scholarship to a student who recognizes the importance of speaking out about mental health, working alongside the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health to create awareness about the 988 Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline, speaking to youth groups in various cities about the importance of mental health and volunteering to help raise funds for Cowboys vs. Cancer.
Three finalists will be announced on December 16, with the recipient being revealed at the award ceremony at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on February 12.
