Cowboy Golf Returns To Action At Historic Olympia Fields
September 19, 2024 | Cowboy Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will resume its fall slate this weekend when it takes part in the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
Head coach Alan Bratton's Cowboys will be one of 15 teams in action at the par-70, 7,353-yard layout. The 54-hole event will get underway on Friday morning and run through Sunday's final round.
The Cowboys are coming off a sixth-place finish in their opener at the Sahalee Players Championship earlier this month. OSU was led by a pair of sophomore transfers from California as Ethan Fang tied for eighth place and Eric Lee shared 19th place in their Cowboy debuts.
This weekend's starting five will once again feature Fang and Lee as well as junior John Wild, sophomore Preston Stout and freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson.
Stout tied for 29th place at Sahalee, while Fahlberg-Johnsson made his debut with a 46th-place showing.
Wild competed individually at the opener and tied for 13th place.
OSU has won the event on two occasions, taking top honors in 2007 and 2018. Four Cowboys have won the individual title with Rickie Fowler (2007), Trent Whitekiller (2009), Peter Uihlein (2010) and Matthew Wolff (2018) all claiming medalist honors.
The Cowboys will be grouped with Georgia Tech and Texas A&M for the first round with tee times starting at 8:15 a.m. (CST). Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
