September 12, 2024 | Cowgirl Soccer
WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State extended its record shutout streak in its Big 12 Conference opener Thursday night as the 15th-ranked Cowgirls knocked off Baylor, 1-0, at Betty Lou Mays Field.
With the win, OSU improved to 7-0-1 and remained one of only two teams in the country that have not allowed a goal this season. Baylor fell to 5-3-0.
Xcaret Pineda's goal in the 19th minute was the difference in a match that saw the Cowgirls outshoot the home team by a 13-9 margin and own a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Grace Gordon recorded the shutout, her sixth of the season and 12th of her OSU career, as she picked up a save and also made an impressive play late in the match to knock away a cross into the box.
OSU got the only score it needed when Laudan Wilson delivered a corner kick over the defense into the box where Pineda settled the ball and drilled an eight-yard shot to the near post for her third goal of the season.
With the 1-0 lead, OSU's defense held strong, limiting the Bears to only two shots in the final half to secure the shutout.
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday when they host Texas A&M-Commerce on Senior Day at Neal Patterson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
