SAN DIEGO – Oklahoma State scored three times in the second half Saturday night to remain perfect on the season with a 3-0 win over San Diego State at the SDSU Sports Deck.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 5-0-0 for the first time since 2012, while SDSU fell to 1-2-1.
OSU also extended its shutout streak as the Cowgirls have now outscored their opponents 11-0 on the season. Grace Gordon tallied a season-high seven saves, one shy of her OSU career high.
Logan Heausler scored two goals as she became the eighth different Cowgirl to find the back of the net this season.
OSU had a pair of near misses in the opening half, with an attempt by Heausler off a corner kick sailing just inches over the bar and a shot from Alex Morris off a great feed from Adelhia Ghonda going wide.
The Aztecs also had opportunities before intermission, recording seven shots and six corner kicks. But the defense held strong, and Gordon made a pair of saves to keep the home team off the board.
Heausler got the scoring started in the 58th minute as she headed in a corner kick from Xcaret Pineda for her first goal of the season.
After nearly doubling their lead minutes later on a deep blast from Pineda that was saved, the Cowgirls would get their second goal in 78th minute. The score came on an own goal as Ghonda delivered a ball into the box that a SDSU defender deflected into the net.
The Cowgirls sealed the win in the 83rd minute. Alex Morris delivered a long pass from midfield, and Heausler outran two defenders and chipped charging SDSU goalie Alexa Madueno to make the score 3-0.
The Cowgirls return to action with a pair of home matches at Neal Patterson Stadium next week as they host Texas State on Thursday and ULM on Sunday.
