Versatile Canadian forward joins Cowboy Basketball roster
August 19, 2024 | Cowboy Basketball
Oklahoma State men's basketball coach Steve Lutz added another versatile perimeter threat to his 2024-25 arsenal with the signing of 6-foot-6 Canadian wing Mikey Kelvin II.
Â
The Ottawa native played the last three seasons at Queens University in Ontario and recently helped his team to runner-up finish in Canada's March Madness equivalent – the USPORTS Final 8.

Lutz said:
Â
"Mikey is a great young man who has competed and excelled at the highest level of Canadian university basketball. He's long, athletic and shoots the three well. He has only been playing basketball since his junior year of high school but has already had a great deal of success, including a run to Canada's national championship game. We're excited to have him join the Cowboy Family this year."
Â
While new to NCAA basketball, Kelvin is no stranger to Lutz's preferred style of attack. Last season he averaged 10.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in Queens' up-tempo offense and was a dangerous three-point threat, knocking down 2.1 threes per game on 37.6% accuracy.
Â
In three seasons at Queens, Kelvin helped usher in a basketball renaissance. The Gaels earned three straight USPORTS Final 8 bids (the first appearances in school history) and won the 2024 OUA Wilson Cup (the program's first conference title since 1957).
Â
Kelvin is the ninth scholarship addition on OSU's 2024-25 roster (all of them upperclassman transfers), joining returners Connor Dow, Jamyron Keller and Bryce Thompson.
