Oklahoma State Cross Country Announces 2024 Schedule
July 01, 2024 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – The Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course will play host to three home meets during the 2024 cross country season, including the return of the Weis-Crockett Invitational.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will open their season Aug. 30 with the Cowboy Preview before hosting two of the premier cross country meets of the season in the 86th annual Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 28 and the Weis-Crockett Invitational on Oct. 19.
OSU will compete at home for the first three meets of the season before heading to Waco, Texas, for the Big 12 Cross Country Championships. Postseason play continues with a trip to Peoria, Ill., on Nov. 15 for the NCAA Midwest Regionals before wrapping up the season in Madison, Wis., at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
The Cowboys are coming off one of the most dominant seasons in the history of the sport in 2023 in which they collected their fifth NCAA title in program history with a 49-point performance at the national meet, the fourth lowest of any team since 2000. All five Cowboy scorers placed in the top-15 overall, with four of them returning in 2024 in Denis Kipngetich (4th), Brian Musau (8th), Fouad Messaoudi (10th) and Victor Shitsama (12th).
At the NCAA Midwest Regional on their home course in Stillwater, the Cowboys scored a region-record 19 points as Kipngetich, Musau and Messaoudi finished 1-2-3 individually. They also brought home their fourth-straight Big 12 team title, defeating No. 3 BYU by 30 points overall. Musau returns to the lineup in 2024 as the defending Big 12 individual champion.
The Cowgirls are coming off their best-ever after placing third finish at the NCAA Championships last November, earning their second straight team trophy. They also won the NCAA Midwest Regional title at home, scoring just 30 points overall. All-American Billah Jepkirui returns to the Cowgirl lineup in 2024 after being named Big 12 and USTFCCCA Midwest Athlete of the Year.
The Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course was opened in 2019 and is named after Don and Shellie Greiner, as well as Don's father Ken, who have pledged a significant gift to Oklahoma State Athletics.
