June 25, 2024 | Cowgirl Equestrian
IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State equestrian had 16 student-athletes named to the 2024 Academic All-Big 12 team. Fourteen earned first-team honors with two landing on the second team.
OSU's equestrian program now counts 173 Academic All-Big 12 selections since the award began in 2015, with 151 of those being chosen for the first team.
A pair of graduate Cowgirls earned the award for the third and fourth time in their careers. Sydney North is a four-time first-team selection, while Stephanie Gripp earns her third first-team honor.
North and Gripp were also two of five Cowgirls who earned spots on the team with 4.0 grade point averages. Also on that list were Mackenzie Carreras, Paige Jones and June Roberson.
A group of four Cowgirls made their second appearances on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team: Riley Hogan, Grace McReynolds, Ella Reinauer and Quincee Clark.
The remaining eight Cowgirls earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team recognition for the first time in their careers as Carerras, Jones, Roberson, Tristan Bagby, Abby Budd, Hannah Dodd, Claire McDowall and Lauren Pursley joined the long list of first-team selections in Oklahoma State's history.
A pair of Cowgirls collected Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honors for the first time in their careers, with Peyton Baxter and Lois Op Het Veld earning that distinction.
To qualify for Academic All-Big 12 honors, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.
Freshman and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
