Standout Pitcher RyLee Crandall Signs with Cowgirl Softball
June 14, 2024 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Softball has added another arm out of the transfer portal as right-handed pitcher RyLee Crandall has signed with the Cowgirls, head coach Kenny Gajewski announced today.
Crandall joins the Pokes with two years of eligibility left after spending her first two seasons in Waco as a Baylor Bear. In her two years as a Bear, the Artesia, N.M., native maintained a 3.13 ERA and held a combined 33-15 record while tallying 197 strikeouts in 286 total innings pitched.
"We're super excited to add RyLee," Gajewski said. "She's a very quality person that comes from a very quality family. She brings a wealth of experience in one of the best leagues in the country. She's competed and beat many of those top-level teams, and that's what we're looking for as we continue our quest to win the final game."
A 2023 All-Big 12 Freshman Team honoree, Crandall's first collegiate season in the circle was highlighted by a 16-6 record to go with an ERA of 3.93 while striking out 85 batters in 130.2 IP. Crandall collected Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors on May 9, 2023, after tossing two complete-game five-hitters against then-No. 2 Texas while earning the win in both contests.
Crandall just wrapped up a stellar sophomore season with the Bears, helping lead them to a NCAA Super Regional appearance as she picked up three victories in five appearances during the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including two complete-game wins. On the season, her numbers include a 17-9 record while posting a 3.20 ERA in 155.1 IP.
Crandall was among the Big 12's best pitchers this season, sitting inside the top 10 in virtually every category, including leading the conference in games started with 28. The full list:
"I prayed for God to guide me to the right place, and when I stepped into Stillwater my prayers were answered," Crandall said. "I'm so excited to be a Cowgirl and to be in Stilly!"
A graduate of Artesia High School, in Artesia, N.M., Crandall was a three-time state champion and was the 2021 Gatorade New Mexico Player of the Year. She was No. 35 on the ExtraInnings 2022 Extra Elite 100 and the 2020 and 2021 MaxPreps Best Player in New Mexico. Her HS stats include some staggering numbers: a .050 ERA with 431 strikeouts in 253.1 IP. Crandall played her club ball with the Texas Glory in Dallas, the same club team that current Cowgirls Macy Graf, Audrey Schneidmiller, Micaela Wark and Tia Warsop played for, so the five Cowgirls will be reunited in Stillwater.
"RyLee is a bulldog," Gajewski said. "She pitches with little emotion, but it comes with a lot of power and a devastating changeup. It's a different look than what we have on our current staff, that will really make us possibly one of the best staffs in the country."
Crandall is the third Division I transfer to choose Oklahoma State for the coming season, and the second pitcher to bolster the Cowgirl pitching staff, joining catcher Amanda Hasler from NC State and pitcher Ruby Meylan from Washington.
