Cowboy Golf To Compete At Jackson T. Stephens Cup
June 11, 2024 | Cowboy Golf
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will be among the six men's squads in action this fall at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, which will be contested at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.
This year's competition will take place Oct. 21-23 and will be the fourth time the tournament has been contested. The event is named in honor of the late Jackson (Jack) T. Stephens, the former Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club.
Held annually since 2021, The Jackson T. Stephens Cup pairs the nation's top collegiate golfers with world class venues. In addition to the twelve NCAA Division I men's and women's teams, The JTS Cup will again feature prominent players from U.S Military Service Academies and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who will be competing as individuals.
The competition will feature 54 holes of stroke play completed over the first two days followed by 18-holes of team match play on the final day. The first 54 holes of stroke play will be used to determine the seeding for the men's and women's fields for the final day of match play, with the low four men's and low four women's teams advancing to match play competition. Stroke-play medalists will be honored on October 22 prior to the start of match play.
On the men's side, the Cowboys will be joined in this year's field by Arkansas, Florida State, Oklahoma, San Diego State and SMU.
Head coach Alan Bratton's squad competed in the 2022 edition of the tournament, which was held at historic Seminole Golf Club in Junio Beach, Fla. OSU's Jonas Baumgartner finished as the individual runner-up, firing rounds of 72, 66 and 66 for a 12-under 204 total.
The event will be televised live on Golf Channel. Tickets will go on sale July 1 on www.stephenscup.com.
