Cowgirl Softball Signs Powerful Catcher Amanda Hasler
June 10, 2024 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Standout catcher Amanda Hasler has signed with Oklahoma State Softball, head coach Kenny Gajewski announced.
One of the nation's top backstops joins the Cowgirls with two years of eligibility remaining after playing her first two years at North Carolina State.
Hailing from Avon, Conn., Hasler had a solid freshman campaign with the Wolfpack, but enjoyed a breakout sophomore season that elevated her to one of the best catchers in the country. In her two years at NC State, Hasler owned a .318 batting average to go with 12 doubles, 27 home runs and 50 runs scored.
"Amanda is an elite athlete," Gajewski said. "She's had tremendous success in her two years at North Carolina State. We have a position that needs depth, the catching spot became a major need and she was the best catcher in the portal. It made sense for us to go after her, and we feel like we're a good match. She's a hard worker, committed on the field and in the classroom, and seems like she's a perfect fit for our program and the Cowgirl Way."
In her first year with the Wolfpack, the 5-foot-5 right-handed catcher started 50 games behind the plate and drove in 28 runs while slashing .279/.405/.519 as a freshman. She launched nine home runs and four doubles on the year. Additionally, Hasler led the team with eight multiple-hit games and at one point during the season, she held an 11-game on-base streak.
This past season, Hasler's sophomore year, she took her game to another level. She started all 53 games at catcher for the Wolfpack, and led the team with 52 hits, 45 RBIs and a .444 on-base percentage while posting a .351 batting average. Hasler slugged at a .770 clip, blasting 18 home runs and tallying eight doubles on the year. For her contributions both on and off the diamond, Hasler was awarded CSC Academic All-District honors.
"I chose Oklahoma State for a multitude of reasons," Hasler explained. "The coaching staff, academics and the environment. The OSU community made me feel like family. I am excited to play for Coach G because he's the best in the business, and I'm excited to play in front of the best fans in the country."
Throughout her two years at NC State, Hasler maintained a .981 fielding percentage, recording 436 putouts and 40 assists while committing only nine errors.
While playing in high school at Avon HS, Hasler was recognized with first 2019 All-State and All-Conference honors, while also receiving PGF All-American recognition.
"I think what fans can expect is a kid who's going to give everything she has every single day," Gajewski said. "A kid that's going to work the Cowgirl Way, that's going to represent Oklahoma State, Oklahoma State Softball and the state of Oklahoma in the right way. I think our fans are going to be really excited to watch her play."
Hasler is the second Division I transfer to choose Oklahoma State for the coming season, joining pitcher Ruby Meylan from Washington.
