May 09, 2024 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Karli Godwin is a TUCCI/NFCA DI Softball Freshman of the Year Top 10 finalist, the NFCA announced today.
After being listed in the original top 25 list (along with fellow Cowgirl Rosie Davis), Godwin has made the next round of finalists. The list of 10 will be trimmed to three on May 23, with the TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year set to be announced on May 28.
A Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina, native, Godwin is the only player to start every game for OSU this season, Godwin is second on the team in batting average (.348), hits (57), home runs (13), RBI (46) and slugging percentage (.659) while leading the team in doubles with 12. Among all freshman nationally, Godwin ranks fifth in home runs and seventh in RBIs. Her 13 home runs set an OSU single-season freshman record.
The list of 25 was selected by the NFCA, while the top 10, top three and winner are voted on by the NFCA Division I All-America Committee. To be eligible, student-athletes must be nominated by their member head coach and in their first year of NCAA Division I collegiate competition as a true freshman or redshirt freshman.
