STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's top-ranked women's tennis team defeated Fairfield, 4-0, Saturday night to advance to the second round of the NCAA Championships at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

The Cowgirls improved to 28-0 on the season and advance past the first round for the 10^th time in their last 11 appearances.

Play opened with the doubles point going the way of the Cowgirls, as the third-ranked pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru made quick work of Maeve Cassidy and Sarah Liu, 6-0. Court two claimed the point for the Cowgirls, as Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez defeated Francesca Karman and Lily Malinowski, 6-0.

Kristina Novak and Safiya Carrington had their match left unfinished leading Laina Campos and Nicolette Loeffler, 4-2.

Singles play opened with No. 18 Komar defeating Liu 6-0, 6-0, and No. 84 Miyamoto besting Karman 6-0, 6-0 to push the match to the brink.

Needing one point to clinch the match, Gonzalez defeated Cassidy 6-2, 6-0 to advance the Cowgirls to the Round of 32.

Three courts went unfinished due to the Cowgirl victory. Novak led Malinowski 6-1, 5-1, No. 46 Peyre was leading Plumtree 6-0, 3-2 and No. 72 Carrington was up on Loeffleer 6-1, 5-4 before being left unfinished.

The Cowgirls will face SMU tomorrow at 2 p.m. with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line.
