Cowgirl Softball’s Lott Wins NCAA Elite 90 Award
May 28, 2024 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Softball's Katie Lott has won the NCAA Elite 90 Award for the 2024 NCAA Division I Softball Championship, it was announced today.
Lott, majoring in psychology, has maintained a 4.0 GPA through two years in the program.
The sophomore outfielder is the fourth Cowgirl Softball player to receive the award, which is the most by any team in the sport of softball. She joins Chelsea Garcia (2011) and Jules Callaham (2021 and 2022) as recipients for the prestigious award. Lott's recognition marks the third time in the last four Women's College World Series that a Cowgirl has received the award.
Lott is the 10th overall Oklahoma State individual to receive the award since its inception in 2009-10, and the third OSU student-athlete this year to receive the award, joining Sivan Auerbach (women's cross-country) and Angelica Pfefferkorn (Women's Golf) as this year's OSU recipients. Three different Elite 90 Award winners in the same season marks only the 12th time that a school has had three or more award winners in the same year.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
