Kajuru Advances in NCAA Individual Championships

STILLWATER– Ange Oby Kajuru of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Individual Championships at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Monday afternoon.

Entering as the No. 3 overall seed in the 64-player field, Kajuru defeated No. 33 Emma Charney of USC, 6-3, 7-5, to advance to the second round in her first NCAA Singles Championship appearance.

Kajuru will face the winner of UCLA's Bianca Jolie Fernandez and Miami's Isabella Pfennig match at 3 p.m. tomorrow as she looks to advance to the Sweet 16.

No. 18 Anastasiya Komar fell to Florida State's No. 21 Victoria Allen 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) to put an end to her first season as a Cowgirl.

Kajuru and Komar will begin play in the doubles draw on Tuesday as the No. 2 overall seed, opening against No. 21 Carol Lee and Kate Sharabura at 7 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the GTC.
