No. 1 Cowgirls Shutout Houston for 22nd-Straight Win

HOUSTON, Texas – Oklahoma State's top-ranked women's tennis team got a dominant 4-0 road win over Houston Friday afternoon in Houston, Texas.
The Cowgirls improve to 22-0 and 11-0 in conference play with the win, building on the greatest start to a season in program history.
The match began with doubles, where the Cowgirls got wins on courts one and three to claim the point. No. 4 Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru were the first to finish, defeating Sophie Schouten and Sonya Kovalenko, 6-3.
Safiya Carrington and Kristina Novak then beat Blanca Cortijo Perreno and Elena Trencheva, 6-4, to secure the doubles point for OSU.
Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez's match against Maria Dzemeshkevich and Laura Slisane went unfinished with the Cowgirls leading, 5-4.
In singles, Oklahoma State needed to win three of six courts to win the match. No. 85 Miyamoto made quick work of Parreno on court four, winning 6-1, 6-0. No. 63 Carrington followed that with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Schouten on court three.
No. 4 Kajuru finished off the Cowgirl win on court two, beating Slisane 6-4, 6-0. The remaining three matches went unfinished as Komar trailed Dzemeshkevich, 5-7, 1-2, on court one, while Novak led Trencheva, 6-2, 4-5, and Gonzalez led Cortes, 7-6.
Oklahoma State will now turn its attention to a bout with No. 55 UCF in Orlando, Florida on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
