Cowgirl Softball defeats Houston, 3-1

HOUSTON – Three home runs propelled No. 6 Oklahoma State to a 3-1 win over Houston Friday night at Cougar Stadium.
The win improves OSU to 31-6 on the year (10-3 in the Big 12). The loss drops the Cougars to 22-15 overall (3-10 in the Big 12).
Caroline Wang opened the scoring for the Cowgirls with a solo home run in the second, moving her to second in single season home runs by a catcher in program history with 12.
Jilyen Poullard added a solo shot of her own in the fifth to extend the lead to 2-0. Houston was able to grab a run back on a solo home run of their own from Lair Beautae in the bottom half.
In the sixth, Rosie Davis added the third Cowgirl home run of the night pushing the lead to 3-1.
Offensively, OSU was led by Wang (2-for-2 with an RBI), Poullard (1-for-3 with an RBI) and Davis (1-for-4 with an RBI).
Lexi Kilfoyl improved to 14-2 on the year going seven innings and striking out five. Shelby Smith picked up the loss going seven innings and giving up three runs.
Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m. tomorrow at Cougar Stadium.
