STILLWATER – Ange Oby Kajuru, Anastasiya Komar and Lucia Peyre of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team earned selections into the 2024 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, taking place in Stillwater from May 20-25.
Kajuru was selected as the singles automatic qualifier out of the Big 12 conference and will enter the singles draw as the three seed, while Komar and Peyre earned at-large bids. Kajuru and Komar as a doubles team were also selected as the automatic qualifier out of the Big 12 and will be the three seed in the doubles draw. Safiya Carrington was also listed as an alternate in the singles draw.
This will be Komar's second appearance in both the NCAA singles and doubles individual championships, while it will be the first for Kajuru and Peyre.
Kajuru is 34-7 on the season, including an 18-3 mark in the spring with six wins over nationally-ranked opponents. She has remained in the top-10 of the ITA singles rankings the entire season while reaching as high as No. 2 on multiple occasions, setting a new program record, and will carry a 14-match win streak into the NCAA Tournament this weekend.
Playing all of her dual matches on court one for the Cowgirls, Komar has gone 26-11 on the year and 12-6 in the spring, with six ranked wins. She has been named to the All-Big 12 Championship singles and doubles teams, the ITA Indoor National Championship All-Tournament team and has received Big 12 Player of the Week honors during the 2024 season.
Peyre earned her place by doing the bulk of her work in the spring, boasting a 21-7 record on the year with 17 of her wins coming during the dual season. She has knocked off three national-ranked opponents and enters this weekend's NCAA Regional on a five-match win streak.
Komar and Kajuru as a pairing have been dominant since teaming up near the end of the fall schedule. The duo reached the final of the ITA Fall Nationals and didn't miss a beat when the dual season began in February, going 17-4 with six ranked wins. The pair has been ranked inside the top-10 of the ITA doubles rankings consistently, and they reached their season-best mark at No. 3 last week.
Oklahoma State as a team is set to host an NCAA Regional this weekend as the top overall seed nationally for the first time in program history. They will take on Fairfield Saturday at 4 p.m. CT with a chance to advance to the regional final on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
