Kilfoyl Sweeps Pitcher of the Week Awards for Second Time
April 02, 2024 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Softball's Lexi Kilfoyl has won Wilson/NFCA D1 National Pitcher of Week and Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors, it was announced today.
Kilfoyl swept the Pitcher of the Week honors following a pair of complete-game shutouts against then-No. 2/2 Texas last weekend. In 14.0 innings pitched against the No. 2 offense in the nation, Kilfoyl struck out 11 batters and did not give up a single extra base-hit. Prior to last weekend's series in Stillwater, the Longhorns hadn't been shut out all season, while Kilfoyl's two-hitter on Saturday marked the first time UT had been held to less than six hits all year. Additionally, Kilfoyl held an offense that is batting .377 on the year to a .177 average.
Kilfoyl becomes the first pitcher in school history to win both NFCA and Big 12 Pitcher of the Week awards twice in one season, as the 6-2 right-hander swept the awards on Feb. 27 following three complete-game shutouts, including tossing blanks against then-No. 16/19 Florida and then-No. 4/4 Washington.
With her 14.0 scoreless innings last weekend, Kilfoyl improved her league-best ERA to 0.80, which is good for sixth in the nation.
Kilfoyl and the Cowgirls return to action against North Texas tomorrow on the road, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
