Top-Ranked Cowgirls Beat Kansas State, Complete Flawless Regular Season

STILLWATER- The Oklahoma State women's tennis team finished off its first-ever undefeated regular season, taking down Kansas State 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The win improves Oklahoma State to 24-0 overall (13-0 in Big 12 play), both setting program records. It also clinches the outright Big 12 regular season championship for the Cowgirls, their first since 2017.
The match opened with the doubles point being taken in convincing fashion by the Cowgirls. Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez defeated Veronika Kulhava and Charlotte Keitel 6-3, and the fifth-ranked doubles pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru bested Maria Santos and Maralgoo Chogsomjav 6-2.
Kristina Novak and Safiya Carrington led Jillian Harkin and Manami Ukita 5-3 before being left unfinished.
No. 12 Komar opened singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Vanesa Suarez, and Novak defeated Santos 6-0, 6-1 to put the Cowgirls up 3-0.
Needing one point to secure the victory, No. 4 Kajuru finished off the Wildcats with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Keitel.
Courts three, four and five were all left unfinished due to the Cowgirl victory. No. 56 Lucia Peyre led Chogsomjav 6-2, 2-3. No. 79 Carrington led Kulhava 6-1, 3-3 and No. 89 Miyamoto was up on Ukita 7-5.
The Cowgirls look to follow up the Big 12 regular season title with a Big 12 tournament championship this weekend beginning on Wednesday and concluding with the final on Saturday night in Stillwater.
