Final Results
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team climbed four spots on the leaderboard during the final round of action at the Thunderbird Collegiate on Saturday to finish in second place at Papago Golf Course.
The Cowboys posted a 9-under 275 during their third round at the par-71, 7,551-yard layout to finish at 10-under 842 and tied with UCLA. Arizona State cruised to victory with its 38-under total of 814.
For head coach Alan Bratton's squad, the runner-up was its third top-3 showing in its last four outings. OSU finished third at the Pauma Valley Invitational as well as the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational previously.
ASU's Preston Summerhays captured medalist honors with a closing 68 to finish at 201 and two shots clear of the field.
OSU senior Jonas Baumgartner fired a closing 65 to move up 26 spots into a tie for 11th place at 209. After opening with three consecutive birdies, he added his fourth of the day at the par-4 sixth before carding another at the eighth to turn in 5-under 31. Baugmartner would birdie the 10th before moving to 7-under on his round with a birdie at the 14th. He would close with his lone bogey of the day at the 18th.
Senior Bo Jin joined Baumgartner inside the top 20, tying for 14th place after closing with a 70 to finish at 210.
A pair of Cowboys were among the group tied for 34th place. Fifth year Rayhan Thomas and freshman Preston Stout both signed for 70s to finish at 1-over 214.
Freshman Gaven Lane turned in a 71 to tie for 43rd place at 215.
Competing individually, fifth year Dillon Stewart completed his second-round 68 on Saturday morning before posting a 72 to also finish at 215 and tied for 43rd place.
