Cowboy Golf Seventh After First Day At Thunderbird

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Thunderbird Collegiate on Friday in a tie for seventh place at Papago Golf Course.
The Cowboys finished at 1-under 567 and tied with Utah and Texas Tech at the par-71, 7,551-yard layout. OSU was one of just nine teams in the 17-team field to complete their second round.
Play will resume tomorrow at 6:30 a.m. (MST) with the final round slated to begin immediately after the completion of round two.
Arizona State finished the day at 23-under 545 and with a commanding 13-shot lead over Arizona. UCLA and Houston shared third place at 562.
ASU's Preston Summerhays carded rounds of 67 and 66 for a 9-under total of 133, putting him three shots clear of the field.
OSU senior Bo Jin posted rounds of 69 and 71, tying him for 14th place at 140.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas rallied from an opening 75 with a 2-under 69 to rise 38 spots into a tie for 41st place at 144. Freshman Gaven Lane also posted a 144 total with back-to-back 72s.
Senior Jonas Baumgartner finished at 144 as well with rounds of 71 and 73, while freshman Preston Stout also came in with a 2-over tally. Stout carded scores of 70 and 74.
Fifth year Dillon Stewart is competing individually and stands in a tie for 20th place at 1-under. After opening with a 75, Stewart is 5-under with three holes remaining in his second round.
