KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team closed play at the Cabo Collegiate on Tuesday with a 295 during its third round at Twin Dolphin Club to finish in 14th place.
The Cowboys finished with a 54-hole total of 883, 31-over par, at the par-71, 7,156-yard layout. Arizona State cruised to a nine-shot victory, finishing at 833 and ahead of runner-up Texas Tech and 17 shots clear of Arkansas.
Stanford's Michael Thorbjornsen held on for a one-shot victory in the individual race after closing with a 69 to finish at 10-under 203.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas climbed 14 spots into a tie for 14th place to lead OSU's starting five. Thomas closed with a 67 to finish at 2-under 211. With a front nine that featured birdies at the fifth and seventh, Thomas logged four birdies on his second nine, carding birdies at the 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th for a 3-under 33 side.
Senior Bo Jin closed with a 76 to finish at 224 and tied for 56th place. Also among the group at 11-over was Cowboy sophomore John Wild, who competed individually and finished with a 78.
Senior Jonas Baumgartner signed for an 81 to finish at 226 and tied for 62nd place.
Freshman Preston Stout carded his low round of the event, a 71, to tie for 65th place at 227.
Freshman Gaven Lane posted an 81 to finish at 236 and alone in 76th place.
The Cowboys will resume their spring slate on March 18 at the Pauma Valley Invitational in San Diego.
