March 01, 2024 | Cowboy Golf
LOS CABOS, Mexico – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will be back in action this weekend when it begins play at the 14th annual Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The Cowboys will be one of 15 teams teeing it up at the par-71, 7,156-yard layout. The 54-hole event will get underway on Sunday morning and will run through Tuesday with 18 holes being contested each day.
Additionally, the individual champion from this year's event will earn a sponsor's exemption to play at the PGA Tour's 2024 World Wide Technology Championship, held in November at Diamante Cabo San Lucas.
OSU will begin its first round at 8:30 a.m. and will be grouped with Arizona, Texas Tech and Baylor.
Head coach Alan Bratton's lineup will consist of fifth year Rayhan Thomas, seniors Jonas Baumgartner and Bo Jin as well as freshmen Preston Stout and Gaven Lane. Sophomore John Wild will compete individually.
The Cowboys, who are coming off a fifth-place showing in their last outing at the Watersound Invitational in Florida last month, have emerged victorious in Cabo on three occasions. The Pokes will be competing in the event for the eighth year in a row and won the event three consecutive years starting with their first appearance in 2017 with all three wins coming at Querencia Golf Club.
Current PGA Tour standout Austin Eckroat captured medalist honors in 2019, the final year the event was contested at Querencia.
Live scoring for the event will be available at golfstat.com.
