Cowgirls Rout No. 14 Auburn, Advance at ITA Indoor National Championships

SEATTLE, Wash. – Oklahoma State's third-ranked women's tennis team rolled past No. 14 Auburn, 4-0, in the opening round of the 2024 ITA Indoor National Championships on Friday.
The win improves OSU to 6-0, it's best start to a season since 2017, and gives it its fifth win over a top-15 ranked opponent, matching a program record that was set in 2016. It also advances to the second round of the ITA Indoor National Championships for the first time since 2017 and will face either Texas or Texas A&M in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
The doubles point was tightly contested, ultimately coming down to a tiebreaker on court three. Ange Oby Kajuru and Anastasiya Komar quickly captured court one for the Cowgirls, beating Ariana Arseneault and Angella Okutoyi, 6-1.
Auburn answered on court two as DJ Bennett and Adeline Flach beat Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez, 6-2, to leave the doubles point resting on court three.
In a back-and-forth affair, OSU's Kristina Novak and Safiya Carrington prevailed over Carolyn Ansari and Selin Ovunc, 7-6 (7-4), to clinch the doubles point for the Cowgirls.
In singles, Oklahoma State quickly gained control of each match, winning the first set on all six courts. Novak was the first to wrap up her win on court six, defeating Flach, 6-2, 6-0.
Lucia Peyre was the next to turn in an OSU point, beating Okutoyi, 6-2, 6-3, to improve to 6-0 on the season. With the Cowgirls one point from clinching, Carrington polished off a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Bennett on court four to secure the Oklahoma State win.
On court one, Komar led Ansari, 6-2, 5-7, before the match was called. Kajuru also led when the Cowgirls clinched, holding the advantage, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0, over Arseneault on court two. Miyamoto was also close to winning on court five, 6-1, 6-5, when the match was called.
