Cowboy Golf Sixth After 36 Holes In Hawaii

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 14-under 274 during its second round at the Amer Ari Invitational on Friday to stand in sixth place at Mauna Lani's North Course through two rounds.
The Cowboys' 32-under total of 544 is five shots off the pace of Texas Tech for fifth place at the par-72, 6,913-yard layout. North Carolina is atop the leaderboard with a 46-under total of 530 and will enter tomorrow's final round with a three-shot cushion.
Arizona State's Wenyi Ding followed an opening 63 with a 64 for a 17-under 127 total and a three-shot cushion in the individual race.
A day after matching the school's 18-hole scoring record with a 62, Preston Stout carded a 71 to stand at 133 and tied for sixth place. The freshman birdied the first four holes of the back nine before turning in 2-under 34. He would go on to post a 1-over 37 on the front side.
Jonas Baumgartner moved up 14 spots into a tie for 23rd place at 136 after carding a 67 on Friday. The senior's round included six birdies against just one bogey.
Freshman Gaven Lane also made a big move, climbing 17 spots into a tie for 32nd place after posted a 67 as well to get in with a 137 total.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas posted his second consecutive 69 to share 41st place at 138.
Freshman Johnnie Clark rounded out the starting lineup with a 157 total after posting a 79 to come in tied for 121st place.
A trio of Cowboys are competing individually at the event.
Sophomore John Wild followed an opening 68 with a 71 to stand at 139 and tied for 48th place.
Fifth year Hazen Newman fired a 68 during his second round to move into a tie for 96th at 146, while senior Bo JIn bounced back from an opening 78 with a 70 to share 107th place at 148.
Fifth year Dillon Stewart was slated to compete individually but withdrew due to injury.
