Game Notes:
• Javon Small set career-highs for free throw makes (12) and attempts (14).
• It was the most free throws by a Cowboy since Bryce Williams' 12-for-13 performance against Houston on Dec. 18, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.
• Small is just the fourth Big 12 player to make 13+ in a game this season, joining TCU's Emanuel Miller (13), Kansas' Kevin McCullar Jr. (13) and K-State's Tylor Perry (14).
• 37 free throw attempts were the most by an OSU team since Nov. 14, 2021 against Prairie View (28-of-46).
• Houston's 25 fouls were one shy of its season-high (26 against Xavier).
• Javon Small, John-Michael Wright, Connor Dow, Quion Williams and Brandon Garrison received the starting nod once again.
Game Flow:
• Charged by points off turnovers and 17 first-half points from Jamal Shead, the Cougars hit the halftime horn leading 40-21.
• Wright hit a midrange jumper to open the game, and, following a 6-0 response from Houston, nailed a 3-pointer.
• Small converted on a pair of free throws and Wright drilled one before Houston struck a 13-0 run, including five straight makes, to build a 14-point lead at the 9:05 mark of the first half.
• Wright ended the Cougars' run with his second three of the night.
• Freshman Justin McBride entered the contest at the 6:22 mark, converting an and-one in his first two minutes of play. McBride pitched some aggressive play, earning five free throws in his first five minutes of action.
• Both sides traded points to open the first four minutes of the second half, with Garrison making three free throws in the span.
• UH head coach Kelvin Sampson was ejected with 15:08 in the second half for coming onto the court to argue a call. His son, associate head coach, Kellen Sampson finished out the game in his place.
• Oklahoma State turned the sequence into a five-point play as Small drilled three free technical foul free throws.
