Cowboy Football Mourns the Loss of Bob Howard

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State football mourns the loss of former Cowboy Bob Howard, who passed away peacefully at the age of 81 Thursday, February 1, 2024 at his home in Yukon.
Bob was born to Don and Dorothy Howard on August 28, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of six children that were all raised on the family farm. Bob graduated in 1960 from Lawton High School, where he was voted Best Personality and was an outstanding athlete. He was all state in football and played in the Oil Bowl in 1960. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University where he was a three year letterman and a two year starter for the Cowboy football team. He was awarded MVP in 1963.
Bob made his career in sales and management in the freight industry followed by the oil field. He loved being with family and friends, playing lots of golf, bowling, being a hand on friends farm and gardening. Bob made Yukon his home for over 45 years.
He is survived by his four children Robert (Venessa), Lisa (David), Kyle (Amanda), and Matt (Shelby); significant other for many years Lloydene (LD) Linton that took such good care of him; sister Christine Chadwick; and brother James Howard. Bob was most proud of being called "Poppie" by his six grandchildren Sutton, Sloan, Cooper, Brooks, Aubrey and Landon, and recent bonus grandchildren Lucy and Hays. He is preceded in death by his parents Don and Dorothy Howard; brother Loewen Howard; and sisters Wendelyn Garton and Jeanette Ketchum.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 6 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
