Cowboys Open Play At Watersound Invitational

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at the Watersound Invitational on Monday with a 294 to stand in 10^th place at Shark's Tooth Golf Course.

The Cowboys' 6-over total put them six shots behind Florida State and Ohio State at the par-72, 7,246-yard layout. Vanderbilt paced the field with a 10-under 278 to lead by five.

Mississippi State's Hunter Logan and Alabama's Thomas Ponder shared the top spot on the individual leaderboard. Each player posted a 6-under 66 during his opening round.

Freshman Preston Stout paced the Cowboy starting five with a 71. Starting on the back nine, he opened with seven consecutive pars before carding a bogey at the 17^th to turn in 1-over 37. Stout turned in a bogey-free front nine that featured birdies at the fourth and sixth to finish under par for the day.

Senior Jonas Baumgartner opened with a 72 to share 25^th place, while fifth year Rayhan Thomas carded a 75 to stand in a tie for 56^th place.

Freshman Gaven Lane opened with a 76 to stand in a tie for 61^st place.

Sophomore John Wild signed for a 78 and is tied for 68^th place.

Freshman Johnnie Clark is competing individually and finished the day tied for 25^th place with his 72.

The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 9 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Vanderbilt and Ohio State.
