Cowgirls Knock Off No. 2 Stanford, Reach ITA Indoor National Title Match

SEATTLE, Wash. – Oklahoma State's third-ranked women's tennis team punched its ticket to the ITA Indoor National Championship match with a 4-2 win over No. 2 Stanford in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday.
The Cowgirls stay undefeated at 8-0 with the win, capturing their fourth victory over a top-five ranked opponent and seventh over a top-15 ranked opponent. It also marks OSU's first win over Stanford in program history, snapping a six-match losing streak and avenging a loss to the Cardinal in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Oklahoma State will play in its first ever ITA Indoor National Title match on Monday at 2 p.m. CT, taking on a No. 5 Michigan team that the Cowgirls beat in their season opener in Stillwater, 4-2, on Jan. 19.
The match began with doubles, where the Cowgirls quickly gained the advantage. No. 13 Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru dominated No. 56 Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina, 6-0, on court one.
The other two courts finished almost simultaneously, with Stanford's Alexandra Yepifanova and Connie Ma beating Raquel Gonzalez and Ayumi Miyamoto on court two, 6-2, while Safiya Carrington and Kristina Novak clinched the doubles point for OSU on court three, beating Valencia Xu and Katherine Hui, 6-3.
In singles, Stanford got the first point to tie the match at one. On court three, No. 5 Kajuru fell to No. 75 Yepifanova, 6-3, 7-5, to get Stanford on the board.
Oklahoma State would capture the next two points. First, Novak beat No. 69 Xu on court six, 6-3, 6-4, before No. 122 Carrington bested No. 55 Blokhina, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, on court four.
Stanford would claim one more court as No. 12 Ma defeated No. 54 Lucia Peyre on court two, 6-3, 6-4, but OSU would clinch when No. 46 Miyamoto finished off Hui, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2, on court five.
No. 17 Komar was in a battle with No. 56 Blake on court one when the Cowgirls clinched the match, trailing 3-6, 6-3, 2-3.
