STILLWATER – Oklahoma State heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for his championship at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, the conference announced Thursday.
Throughout the weekend, Hendrickson compiled a 5-0 record and did not let a single match even reach the third period. His performance included three pins, a technical fall and an injury default, ultimately earning him the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler award.
Hendrickson cruised through the first day of action as he beat Purdue's Hayden Filipovich, Iowa State's Daniel Herrera and South Dakota State's Luke Rasmussen, setting up a semifinal match against Ohio State's eighth-ranked Nick Feldman. There, Hendrickson built an early 6-0 lead before Feldman was forced to concede the match due to injury.
Sixth-ranked Isaac Trumble of NC State was waiting in the finals, but Hendrickson proved to be too much yet again with another pin in just 2:35. The weekend improved Hendrickson's record to 9-0 this season and gave him career wins Nos. 11 and 12 against top 10 opponents.
Hendrickson is the first Cowboy to win the Big 12's weekly award this season after three did so throughout the 2024 campaign. He also earned the recognition on January 4, 2022, while competing for Air Force.
