STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team has added one of the most decorated players in the country with Henry Guan signing to join head coach Alan Bratton's squad.
"Henry is one of the very best players in the country and always has been. He uses a lot of imagination when he plays. That creativity reminds me of some of the great players we've had here in the past. His short game is fantastic and I really like the leadership qualities he shows at a young age," Bratton said.
"He loves to compete and already has friendships with several guys on our team. That should really help his transition after moving his graduation date up a year. Henry is an impact player and we are blessed to have him join the family."
Guan was named a first-team AJGA All-American in 2022 and 2023 before capturing honorable mention status this past year. He has logged 14 top-10 finishes over the past two years to stand at 292 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
A native of Irving, Texas, Guan was one of eight boys named to the inaugural U.S. National Junior Team by the USGA last March. He reached the round of 32 at the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur and tied for 16th place during stroke play before advancing to the round of 32 at the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur. Additionally, he tied for 32nd during stroke play to advance to the match play bracket at the 2024 U.S. Amateur.
In 2024, Guan finished seventh at the Rolex Tournament of Champions, reached the semifinals at the Western Amateur Championship, was ninth at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, fifth at the Mayakoba Invitational and eighth at the AJGA Simplify Boys Championship at Carlton Woods.
In 2023, he finished sixth at the Rolex Tournament of Champions, was seventh at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, sixth at the Mayakoba Invitational, fifth at the Terra Cotta Invitational, fifth at the Dustin Johnson World Junior and eighth at the AJGA Simplify Boys Championship at Carlton Woods.
He posted runner-up finishes at the Jack Burke Jr. Invitational, Wyndham Invitational and the South Beach International Amateur. Overall, Guan had eight top-10 finishes in 12 junior events in 2023.
In 2022, he won the 2022 AJGA Wyndham Invitational as the youngest player in the field and represented the United States in the 2022 Junior Presidents Cup.
