Cowboy Basketball signs Class of 2025 sharp-shooter
November 13, 2024 | Cowboy Basketball
One of the nation's deadliest three-point shooters will soon be a Cowboy.
Â
Oklahoma State men's basketball coach Steve Lutz announced the signing of 6-foot-5 high school guard Ryan Crotty, a North Carolina native and current senior at Miller School in Charlottesville, Va.
Â
As a junior, Crotty set a Virginia high school record with 142 three-pointers and led his team to the VISAA Division II state championship. The consensus four-star recruit is ranked as high as No. 76 in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports.
Â
In 35 games, Crotty knocked down an average of 4.06 threes per game on 46% accuracy. He also put up 18.5 points and 5.3 rebounds on his way to first team all-state honors.
Â
Crotty followed that up with a strong showing for Nike EYBL powerhouse Boo Williams, tallying 14.2 points per game in spring EYBL play and 12.8 points per game at Peach Jam.
Â
Lutz said:
Â
"Ryan is a tireless worker who puts team goals ahead of his own. Last year he set Virginia's high school three-point record, but what most impressed me was the way that he did it – within the flow of the offense for a state championship team. He's been well-coached and has a real understanding of spacing and how to get himself open. Combine that with his size and a quick release, and you can see why he's become one of the nation's elite shooters. He's also a wonderful person and student. We're glad he's decided to join us for his next chapter."
Â
Crotty chose OSU over offers from Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and more, citing Lutz playing style and OSU's campus and facilities as some of the primary drivers.
