David Taylor to Compete at 2024 Senior World Championships

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head wrestling coach David Taylor will represent the United States at 92 kilograms at the 2024 Senior World Championships, he announced Monday.
"It's something that everyone in this room is aspiring to do," Taylor said. "So, I think it's a good thing for the guys to continue to see that. I'm excited to go wrestle."
Scheduled for October 28-31 in Tirana, Albania, the 2024 World Championships feature competition in the four weight classes not included at the Paris Olympics this past summer.
Taylor will travel overseas looking for his third consecutive gold medal at the World Championships following victories in 2022 and 2023. A four-time gold medalist on the world level, Taylor captured his first title in 2018 before adding another at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He also brought home silver at 2021 Worlds to give him five total medals throughout his career.
The Cowboy head coach cemented his spot on Team USA with a dominant showing at the U.S. World Team Trials in September. There, Taylor won all six of his matches and swept 2023 World bronze medalist Zahid Valencia in the best-of-three Championship Series, which was highlighted by a pin in the final bout.
The United States men's freestyle team also includes Vito Arujau, James Green and Jordan Burroughs at 61, 70 and 79 kilograms, respectively.
