Cowgirl Softball topples West Texas A&M, 13-1, in Fall Exhibition

STILLWATER —The Oklahoma State softball team claimed a 13-1 exhibition win over West Texas A&M in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
With the win, the Cowgirls end the fall exhibition season with a perfect 6-0 record and have outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 74-2.
Karli Godwin blasted her first home run of the fall campaign in the win as she finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. The home run marked the sixth long ball of the Cowgirls' fall season.
The Pokes threw six pitchers in the contest. Katie Kutz, Ruby Meylan, Madison Hoffman, RyLee Crandall, Kathryn Ogg and Kyra Aycock split the 10 innings of work near equally. The pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, five hits and only allowed one walk.
The offense recorded 22 total hits, 13 RBIs and two walks. 14 different Cowgirls got a hit in the game, while seven batters had multiple hits. Nine Cowgirls tallied RBIs in the game.
OSU scored five runs in the first three innings, then followed it up with three runs in the fifth. The biggest inning of the contest came in the ninth as four more runs were added. A singular run was added in the tenth to wrap up the game.
The fall exhibition schedule concludes with the Cowgirls' Orange and Black Series on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 24, both slated to start at 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
