Komar Named Big 12 Player of the Week

STILLWATER – Anastasiya Komar of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday, marking the third consecutive week a Cowgirl has earned the award.
This is the first time in Komar's career she has received the honor, and she joins Lucia Peyre and Raquel Gonzalez as Cowgirls who have earned the award this season.
Playing from the number one position, Komar went 3-0 to lead Oklahoma State to two victories and advancement through ITA Kickoff Weekend last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa.
Komar provided the match-clinching victory against No. 12 UCLA with the score tied at three, coming back to defeat the defending NCAA singles champion Tian Fangran, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. She also earned the only doubles win for the Cowgirls against the Bruins, beating Fangran and Elise Wagle, 6-3, with partner Ange Oby Kajuru.
On Sunday, Komar earned another doubles win, dominating Sofia Johnson and Liddia Rasskouskaia of Old Dominion, 6-1, with Kajuru. In singles, Komar led Johnson, 6-2, 5-5, as the Cowgirls clinched the win, leaving her match unfinished.
Komar is now 2-0 in singles and 2-2 in doubles on the year, leading OSU to its best start to a season since 2020 at 4-0. With three top-15 wins already secured, the Cowgirls will host No. 6 Pepperdine on Saturday at 11 a.m. looking to add another quality win to their resume.
