Gonzalez Named Big 12 Player of the Week

STILLWATER – After an impressive opening weekend at the Freeman Memorial Invitational, Raquel Gonzalez of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday.
This is the first time in Gonzalez's career that she has earned the honor and she becomes the first Cowgirl to win the award since Alana Wolfberg in April of 2023.
Gonzalez did not drop a set on her way to winning her draw at OSU's season-opening tournament in Las Vegas last weekend. She collected wins over players from No. 16 UCLA and No. 8 Pepperdine, including a first-round victory over No. 99 Ahmani Guichard.
In doubles, Gonzalez went 2-1 with partner Ayumi Miyamoto, highlighted by a dominant 6-1 win over the No. 38 ranked pairing of Malwina Rowinska and Qavia Lopez from No. 10 Florida on the final day.
Gonzalez and the Cowgirls will look to build on a successful opening weekend when they host No. 5 Michigan on Friday and No. 14 Ohio State on Sunday. Both matches will be livestreamed by CrackedRacquets on YouTube, and the action can also be followed through CowgirlTennis on social media.
