Series History: Cowboys Look to Improve Series Lead in Ames

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowboys enter Ames, Iowa this Saturday aiming to improve to 2-1 on the season and to bolster its series lead.
With its inaugural contest held in 1926, the Cowboys carry a 34-20-3 series lead over the Cyclones, winning the last 11-of-14 contests and its past four-of-five in Ames.
Last season, Oklahoma State notched a come-from-behind 20-14 win in Stillwater behind 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
Gunnar Gundy made his first collegiate start in last season's contest, lasering an 83-yard touchdown pass to John Paul Richardson. The pass marked OSU's longest since Sept. 14, 2019.
Spencer Sanders played a pivotal backup role in the game, driving in the Cowboys' pair of fourth-quarter scoring drives en route to 84 passing yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys pitched a feisty defensive effort, unleashing 11 tackles for loss, four sacks and three interceptions credited to ISU quarterback Hunter Dekkers. Jason Taylor II, Jabbar Muhammad and Kendal Daniels all corralled picks for the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State heads to Jack Trice Stadium looking to open conference play unbeaten and improve to 2-1, while Iowa State aspires to move to 2-2 after back-to-back losses versus No. 24 Iowa and Ohio. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CT and the game will be televised live on FS1 with Dan Hellie and Petros Papadakis on the call.
