Cowboys Wrap Up First Day At Olympia Fields

Round 1 Results
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 10-over 290 during the first round of action at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Friday to stand in 14th place at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys will enter tomorrow's second round just five shots out of a spot in the top five at the par-70, 7,353-yard layout. Texas grabbed the lead with a 4-under 276.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas led the way for the Cowboys, opening with an even-par 70 to share 15th place. After opening with a double bogey at the 10th, Thomas carded a birdie at the 12th. After a bogey at the 18th to turn in 2-over 37, he moved back to level for the day with birdies at the first and fourth holes.
Freshman Gaven Lane posted a 72 to finish the day tied for 35th place, while freshman Preston Stout's 73 tied hime for 42nd place.
Senior Jonas Baumgartner signed for a 75 to finish tied for 66th place.
Freshman Johnnie Clark's 77 tied him for 75th place.
Fifth year Hazen Newman is competing individually and posted a 73 to finish among the group tied for 42nd place.
