Cowboy Family mourns the loss of Paul Mullen '71

Paul Mullen, starting center on coach Henry Iba's final Oklahoma State men's basketball team, passed away June 10 in Stillwater at age 75.

Born Jan. 30, 1948 in Seminole, Okla., the 6-foot-7 Mullen was an all-state performer at Seminole High School before signing on to play for OSU in 1967.

Described as "one of the finest outside shooting big men in the Big Eight" and "an excellent jumper" by the OSU media guides, Mullen started every game as an upperclassman. He averaged 10.3 points and 4.4 rebounds as a junior during the 1969-70 season – Iba's last – and put up 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds the following year for coach Sam Aubrey.

Mullen graduated in 1971, but his contributions to the university and Stillwater communities continued. For more than 20 years he managed the OSU payroll department. He remained an avid supporter of OSU Athletics throughout his life, regularly attending games and team reunions.
