STILLWATER – Oklahoma State will be well-represented at the 2023 USA Basketball U19 Men's National Team Training Camp, as head coach Mike Boynton will be an assistant coach and incoming freshman Eric Dailey Jr. is one of 35 athletes competing for a roster spot.
Training camp takes place at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado starting June 11. The 12-member team is scheduled to be announced before departing for the 2023 FIBA U19 Men's World Cup Championship, scheduled for June 24-July 2 in Debrecen, Hungary.
Dailey Jr. and Boynton won gold together for Team USA at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship in the summer of 2022.
Dailey has extensive experience with USA Basketball. In addition to his experience at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship, Dailey was included on the 2023 USA Men's Nike Hoop Summit roster and was a member of the 2021 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 World Cup Team that won gold in Hungary. He has also participated in multiple USA Basketball mini camps.
This is Boynton's third consecutive summer with USA Basketball, as he was a court coach on the U19 FIBA World Cup team in 2021 and an assistant on the FIBA U18 Americas Championship team in 2022.
The Cowboy Basketball program has become a mainstay of USA Basketball in recent years, with Cade Cunningham and Isaac Likekele teaming up on the USA U19 team at the 2019 FIBA World Cup; Boynton, Dailey Jr., and Brandon Garrison partnering to win gold at the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship and both Marcus Smart and Jawun Evans securing U19 gold at the World Championships in 2013 and 2015, respectively.
