STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's women's tennis team has added its third transfer student-athlete of the season with the signing of Anastasiya Komar, Cowgirl head coach Chris Young announced on Tuesday.
"I am very excited about the addition of Nas to our program," Young said. "There is no doubt that she has established herself as one of the elite players in college tennis and I look forward to our fans getting a chance to watch her play for the Cowgirls. I have enjoyed getting to know her the past few weeks and I am thrilled she chose our program to continue her career."
Komar has spent the previous two seasons at Louisiana State University where she joins former LSU teammate, Safiya Carrington, in Stillwater as a redshirt sophomore.
In her redshirt freshman season at LSU, the Belarus native went 33-8 overall in singles competition, including a 19-2 record in dual matches. She served as LSU's most successful court one athlete posting a 9-2 record.
Additionally, she won ten straight on court two and earned All-SEC First Team honors. Against nationally ranked opponents, Komar went 11-6, including an upset over South Carolina's No. 12 Sarah Hamner in straight sets.
Her success in singles matched that in doubles competition going 32-10 overall this season with a 16-4 record in dual matches.
Komar concluded the 2022-23 season ranked No. 9 in singles competition in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, the highest of her career. She also ranked as high as No. 6 in doubles competition.
Komar has also found success in regional tournaments, sweeping the 2022 ITA Southern Regional singles and doubles titles. After only one full season of play, Komar is already a two-time ITA All-American with experience in the NCAA individual tournament.
Prior to LSU, Komar earned five doubles titles and a singles title in various International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior competitions while earning a career-high ranking of No. 202.
