Cowgirl Tennis Adds Ange Oby Kajuru
May 21, 2023 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's tennis team has added a junior transfer for the 2023-24 season with the signing of Ange Oby Kajuru, Cowgirl head coach Chris Young announced on Sunday.
"We are excited to welcome Ange to the Cowgirl tennis family," Young said. "She is a great competitor and will make an immediate impact in both singles and doubles next season."
A native of Tokyo, Japan, Kajuru is no stranger to the Big 12 after spending the previous two seasons with the Iowa State Cyclones.
Kajuru has posted an impressive resume through two complete seasons of collegiate action, posting a career 40-13 record in singles competition and a 43-14 record in doubles. She also played a pivotal role in Iowa State's run to the NCAA Quarterfinals last season.
Kajuru has reached a height of No. 51 in singles and No. 17 in doubles in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ranking. She has found success playing at the Greenwood Tennis Center when she was named the doubles champion at the 2022 ITA Central Region Championship.
Kajuru was one of only two players in the 2022-23 season to earn a Big 12 position championship and a spot on the All-Big 12 first team in both singles and doubles. In her freshman season, she earned her first conference position title in doubles competition while acclaiming a spot in the Big 12 All-Freshman team.
Additionally, Kajuru is a four-time player of the week in the Big 12, twice as a freshman and twice as a sophomore.
In international play, Kajuru has participated in numerous International Tennis Federation tournaments since 2016. In 2019, she earned a doubles tournament victory in the W15 Heraklion in Greece. She followed that performance with a singles title in straight sets at the W15 Oloumouc in The Czech Republic later that year.
